UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT
Uniforms are not required during the first 2 month session until the first rank test. Students testing for higher belts do need to purchase a Mission Martial Arts uniform.
Once you decide to purchase a uniform, be sure to see the Uniform Rules, and wear your uniform to every class.
Only Orange Belts and above in Taekwondo class are required to have sparring gear. Tiny Tigers will not need sparring gear.
We offer discounted sparring gear sets for between $60-80. Orders are taken on rank testing days. Once you have gear, be sure to review and follow the Sparring Rules.
"A Black Belt is a White Belt that Never Quit!"
New student? Good news, you're not alone! Everyone who ever started a martial art started as a White Belt.
There are many ranking systems in Taekwondo. While belt colors can vary from school to school, the number of ranks are very consistent, regardless of the style.
Our youngest students, Tiny Tigers (ages 4-6) follow a special ranking system specific for the skills they are learning. You'll notice higher belts all have a white background with a color stripe through the middle. This symbolizes their progression over time through the basic skills needed to be successful as they prepare to move up to the full Taekwondo class.
Tiny Tigers that reach the level of Tiny Tiger Black Belt will enter the full Taekwondo class as a full yellow belt.
The Taekwondo ranking system has 10 color belt ranks leading up to the initial black belt. Transferring from another school's ranking system is possible, but depends on the length of time and style.
Testing is optionally available at the end of each 2 month training session. All testing takes place at East Branch.
Basic eligibility requirements include:
Testing applications are submitted online. Application dates and deadlines will be communicated by email.
