You've made a great choice in signing up for martial arts classes! Whether this is completely new to you or not, we want to let you know that we are here to help. This Quick Start guide is designed to help answer several of the most common questions that new students and families have over the first several weeks. If the guide doesn't answer your question, please speak with an instructor or email us your questions. Thanks, and we look forward to training with you! |
UNIFORMS
Uniforms are not required for new beginners during the early weeks of training. However, in order to test, all students are required to have an official Mission Martial Arts uniform.
Student uniforms are available for purchase any time at the Mission Gym location, and by scheduled try-on at our branch locations.
During the warmer months, a uniform t-shirt is available for purchase to wear as the uniform top to class. Full uniforms (not t-shirts) are required for all rank testing events. There are certain rules regarding proper dress for martial arts training. Be sure to check out the Uniform Rules, a quick video on How to Tie a Taekwondo Belt, and other useful resources on our Student Handbook page. |

At the end of every 2 month training session we offer optional rank testing events. At these events, students who are fully prepared to test have the opportunity to earn their next belt.
Minimum Requirements:
All testing takes place at the main school (Mission Gym) located in Middletown. Be sure to mark our scheduled Rank Test dates on your personal calendar. Taekwondo students are allowed only 1 pre-approved make-up test. Past certain ranks, no make up tests are available. There are no make-up tests for Tiny Tigers. See your instructor for more details. A full uniform is required for testing. Testing Fees
Test dates are on our calendar, always up to date and available at missionmartialarts.net/calendar. Test applications can be submitted online at missionmartialarts.net/test. Check the calendar for application deadlines. Dates will also be shared in regular email communications. |
Life Skills Curriculum
Mission Martial Arts is passionate about teaching valuable life skills along with practical martial arts skills.
One way we do this is with our Golden Words program. Each month our junior students (ages 12 and under) have an opportunity to earn a gold stripe on their belt by showing they have demonstrated our Golden Word in class and at home.
Look for a new Golden Words card in class each month.
