You've made a great choice in signing up for martial arts classes! Whether this is completely new to you or not, we want to let you know that we are here to help. This Welcome guide is designed to help answer the most common questions we receive from new students and parents. If the guide doesn't answer your question, please speak with an instructor or email us your questions. Thanks, and we look forward to training with you! |
UNIFORMS
Student uniforms are available for purchase any time before or after class. New students should try on and purchase a uniform during the first week of class.
During the warmer months, a uniform t-shirt is available for purchase to wear as the uniform top to class. Full uniforms (not t-shirts) are still required for all rank testing events. There are certain rules regarding proper dress for martial arts training. Be sure to check out the Uniform Rules, a quick video on How to Tie a Taekwondo Belt, and other useful resources on our Student Handbook page. |

At the end of every 2 month training session we offer optional rank testing. These are major events, much like the big game that you have been practicing for. Students who are fully prepared to test will have the opportunity to earn their next belt. Testing is never required, but highly encouraged for those that are ready.
Minimum Requirements:
All testing takes place at the main school (Mission Gym) located in Middletown. Be sure to mark your calendar with our scheduled test dates. If you need to miss a test, that's okay! Not everyone is ready every time anyway. In fact, some ranks require longer training time. And all training helps students make progress toward their higher belt goals. There is no such thing as repeating a belt level. Testing Fees
Test dates are on our calendar, always up to date and available at missionmartialarts.net/calendar. Test applications can be submitted online at missionmartialarts.net/test. Check the calendar for application deadlines. Dates will also be shared in regular email communications. |
Life Skills Curriculum
Mission Martial Arts is passionate about teaching valuable life skills along with practical martial arts skills.
One way we do this is with our Golden Words program. Each month our junior students (ages 12 and under) have an opportunity to earn a gold stripe on their belt by showing they have demonstrated our Golden Word in class and at home.
Look for a new Golden Words card in class each month.
